A Little About Sara
Education and Background
As a LPC in the state of Georgia, Sara holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. After the completion of her undergraduate degree, she enjoyed working as a care counselor in a group home for neglected and abused children. A deeper passion for others was realized while working with teenagers as a volunteer youth leader in her church. While she continued to work in various business roles, including event planning, project management, and marketing for companies like John C. Maxwell’s leadership organization and The 1% Club, she informally counseled and mentored women and teenagers for years.
Personal experience
Henri Nouwen said “When our wounds cease to be a source of shame, and become a source of healing, we have become wounded healers.” Sara considers herself to be a wounded healer, having chosen to enter counseling professionally after experiencing healing for herself. Because her truest source of healing was Jesus, Sara counsels from a distinctively Christian worldview, desiring to comfort others with the same comfort she has received. However, the personal spiritual journey of each client is respected regardless of faith.
The driving force behind Sara’s passion to counsel others is found here:
“…to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion, to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord, for the display of His splendor.”
– Isaiah 61:2-3
